Een doorlopend onderzoek van beleefde en gemeten tijd

Tijd verstrijkt onderzoekt de spanning tussen de tijd van de klok en de tijd zoals die wordt ervaren. Uitgangspunt is het circadiaanse ritme: de opeenvolging van tijdstippen die onze dagen structureert en ons voortdurend confronteert met het verstrijken van de tijd.

In elk werk wordt dezelfde handeling herhaald, terwijl de uitkomst steeds verandert. Zoals geen enkele dag hetzelfde wordt beleefd, ondanks de terugkerende structuur van dag en nacht.

De tijdsaanduidingen markeren momenten die op het ogenblik van registreren alweer voorbij zijn. Wat achterblijft zijn sporen, afdrukken en verdichtingen: materiële restanten van geleefde tijd.

De werken proberen tijd niet vast te leggen, maar zichtbaar te maken wat resteert wanneer een moment is verdwenen.

Time passes

An ongoing investigation into lived and measured time 

This series registers time without fixing it in place and does not depict decisive moments, but traces of what has occurred and disappeared again. Across the surfaces, marks emerge: accumulations, discolorations, and fractures that appear and dissolve, as though only temporarily borrowed from time itself. What remains is residue — material that persists without being fully traceable, referring to a past that cannot be held onto and a future that remains open. The time indications suggest precision, yet they merely mark fragments within a continuous flow in which past, present, and future cannot be clearly separated.

Through repetition, the act acquires a rhythmic character. The registration is performed again and again, without ever arriving at a definitive outcome. In this sense, the series carries the character of Sisyphus: a continuous effort without completion, endlessly reappearing. The works do not form a closed whole, but rather a field in which appearance and disappearance alternate, revealing what remains without fixing what it means. What becomes visible is not so much meaning itself, but its suspension — a remainder that resists definitive interpretation.
